the grand canyon

Fun fact! Did you know that the Grand Canyon (West Rim) is only 2 hours away from Vegas?

Crazy, right? What’s also crazy is that the West Rim has a Sky Walk attraction! The Skywalk is a 10-foot wide, horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that extends 70 feet out over the rim of the Grand Canyon so you can see 4,000 feet beneath you.

Although they don’t allow you to bring your phones onto the Skywalk, I’d recommend checking it out anyway! It’s such a thrill looking down and seeing the bottom of the Grand Canyon. If you do want a picture of that special moment, you could ask one of the staff members to take a picture for you and buy a photo as a souvenir!

The attractions don’t just stop at the Skywalk over at the West Rim. For more things to do, you should check out the Grand Canyon West website!

You will also find deals and packages for the attractions you’re interested in! Ziplining and whitewater rafting sounded cool, but I think I’m going to save that for the next time when I go!

This time around, I got the grand package which included general admission and Skywalk tickets for $64!

General admission includes access to the viewpoints of Eagle Point & Guano Point and transportation on their shuttle service!

Honestly, $64 isn’t bad, and if you go, you can check off “the Grand Canyon” off your bucket list and say that you got to stand above the Grand Canyon and saw 4,000 feet below!

If you do plan on visiting the Grand Canyon, I do recommend as always:

  • bring LOADS of sunscreen
  • sunglasses
  • a hat
  • LOTS of water
  • snacks (there are areas you can buy food and snacks if you don’t want to carry too much)
  • appropriate clothing to hike/walk (please double-check the weather because it can be super hot in Arizona!)
  • your camera!! (if you’re going to just be taking pictures on your phone, be sure to bring a portable charger so your battery is not low by the time you get back on the road!)

I hope this prepares you well enough for your trip! If I’m missing anything, please leave a comment down below for any tips, suggestions, questions, or comments on what I’m missing or how you like it!
